Mark A. Heidebrecht, MSE, ACSM, CHFP
Managing Partner
Certified Ergonomist

Mr. Heidebrecht is the owner of ErgoMethods, LLC and a Managing Partner of Ergo-Online, LLC. He provides expert witness services in the areas of biomechanics, ergonomics and human factors and has developed numerous web-based and corporate ergonomic programs. Mark has also developed and instructs a preparation course for individuals pursuing certification by the Board of Certified Professional Ergonomists (BCPE). His experience spans over 15 years and his specialties include ergonomics, biomechanics, human factors, functional capacity evaluation and work physiology. Mark is certified by the Board of Certified Professional Ergonomists and holds an additional certification by the American College of Sports Medicine. Mr. Heidebrecht has developed numerous ergonomic educational products and training modules including the development of ergonomic analysis software and motion analysis equipment.

Mr. Heidebrecht’s client base includes private industry as well as the federal government. His work experience includes solutions for such industries as apparel manufacturing, public accounting, card/paper manufacturing, shipping/cargo, meat processing, pharmaceuticals, automobile manufacturing, aerospace, insurance, and private hospitals. Most recently, Mr. Heidebrecht developed and implemented the Ergonomic Risk Reduction Process for the Customer Service Division of the United States Postal Service. When fully implemented, it will affect over 750 thousand United State Postal Employees on a national level.

As a guest speaker, Mr. Heidebrecht has authored and/or presented numerous ergonomic and human factors topics throughout the United States, Australia and New Zealand. Topics have included functional capacity evaluations, upper/lower body ergonomic assessments, certification in ergonomics, functional motion analysis, physical demand assessments, job matching, ADA compliance, musculoskeletal disorders and various topics on biomechanics. Mr. Heidebrecht testified as an expert witness in front of OSHA in July of 2000 regarding the controversial ergonomic standard. In September of 2000 he was asked to present to the National Academy of Sciences in Washington D.C. regarding the effectiveness of ergonomic interventions and the early identification of musculoskeletal disorders.

Mr. Heidebrecht graduated with Honors from the University of Kansas for his research and thesis, The Kinetic Analysis of Lifting and Lowering Utilizing Chaffin’s Biomechanical Model. His research in the fields of ergonomics and physiology has included analysis such as validity and reliability motion analysis devices, personal attributes contributing to musculoskeletal disorders, kinetic analysis of lifting and lowering tasks, tissue response to muscular strains, force plate foot strike analysis, the stretch shortening cycle, and transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation.
