For most people, technology makes things easier.
For people with disabilities, technology makes things POSSIBLE.
Assistive Technology includes ideas, devices and equipment designed to make life easier or to help a person with a disability perform a certain task.
Assistive Technology helps people with disabilities to speak, hear, learn, see, write, move around, play, work and function independently in their daily lives.
Certified assistive technology practitioners (ATP) and rehabilitation engineers apply theories of science and mathematics to address barriers confronted by people with disabilities in work, home, school, and community environments. Rehabilitation engineers create the interface between the person and the task.
They fit the task to the person.
